Inside a Florida wall

A good repair starts behind the surface

Stains, cracks and sagging seams usually have a cause underneath. Scroll through what goes into a wall that stays smooth.

  1. 01

    It starts with block

Most Central Florida homes have concrete-block outside walls. Moisture and old leaks show up here first, so it's checked before anything covers it.

  2. 02

    Straight strips to fix to

Thin wood furring strips go on the block so the new wall has something straight and solid to hold on to.

  3. 03

    New drywall board

Damaged board comes out and new sheets go up, screwed tight, with the joints planned so they're easy to hide.

  4. 04

    Tape and mud

Every joint and screw is taped and covered in thin coats of mud, then sanded flat. This is the step that makes a repair disappear.

  5. 05

    Texture, paint and trim

The texture is matched or the surface left smooth, then it's primed, painted and trimmed out, and the room is cleaned up.

Questions

Common questions

Where we work

  • Tampa Bay
  • Lakeland
  • Orlando
  • In between? Ask
Where do you work?

From Lakeland across Tampa Bay and over to Orlando. If you're somewhere in between and not sure, call and ask.

What should I tell you when I get in touch?

The city, which rooms, what's wrong (stains, cracks, old textures) and what you'd like done. If you have photos of the room and any damage, they help us give you a closer price.

My ceiling has a water stain. Can it be fixed?

Usually, yes. First make sure the leak itself is fixed. Then the damaged board is checked, replaced if it's soft, and finished to match the rest of the ceiling.

Can you get rid of a popcorn ceiling?

Ask us. In older homes the texture should be tested before it's disturbed, so we'll talk about that first.

Do you do kitchens, bathrooms and floors?

Ask us. Tell us about the job and we'll tell you plainly what we can take on.

What about permits and licenses?

Some work needs a permit from your city or county. Ask about your job and we'll be straight with you about what it needs.
